At Ruffhouse Playcare for Dogs Inc. we offer a full line of grooming services to meet your dogs needs. Our groomers are experienced, patient and most of all very gentle with the dogs. One of our groomers has over 25 years of experience with all types of breeds and clips.

The following explains the various cuts available at Ruffhouse:

TEDDY BEAR CLIP:
A teddy bear clip leaves the "Long and Fluffy" look. The length is normally ½ inch and is completely scissored. A teddy bear can be adjusted in length to suit the owner's preference & can be shortened while still maintaining the long, fluffy look.

OLD MAN OR LAMB CLIP:
A lamb clip leaves the back, neck and belly a shorter length (3/8ths or ¼ inch), while the head, tail and legs are hand scissored and left neatly formed and fluffy. This style can be adjusted in length or flipped around, depending on personal preference.

KENNEL CLIP:
A kennel clip leaves the entire body one length. The head, face, and tail are shaped using scissors. The lengths can run from ½ inch to as short as 1/16 inch. Clipping shorter is not recommended unless the dog has extreme matting and there is no alternative.

BREED CLIP:
A breed clip is the Industry recognized style for your specific breed of dog. These styles can be scissored, clipped or a combination.

BATH & TIDY:
A bath and tidy is for short coated breeds, long coated breeds without any standard patterns, or a dog in between cuts. A bath & tidy consists of: bath, blow dry, nail trim, ear cleaning, clearing hair from sanitary areas (groin, bum), light trim on paws, and featherings, and cleaning face and eyes.

HAND STRIPPING:
Hand stripping is mainly used in showing of specific purebred dogs. Some owners prefer the hand stripped look over the clipped look and have if preformed on pets. This procedure uses a hand stripping knife and shortens the hair to a breed specific pattern without the use of clippers. Scissors or thinning shears are used to shape the pattern edges.

CREATIVE CUTS & COLORING:
A creative cut is a clip that is not a standardized breed clip. It is really more of an extension of your groomer's creative side and can entail just about anything. Creative cuts can be modified with Color, Beads, Gems, Braids, or can be shaved or scissored into graphic patterns.

Nail Clipping and Anal Gland Expression are also available.

Costs of grooms vary due to Size, Temperament, Style Chosen and Coat Condition. It is subject to the Groomer's discretion.
